Paul Wertico Episode 2

Paul Wertico.

Paul Wertico is well-known for his long-term collaborations with guitarists Pat Metheny and Larry Coryell. He visited us recently and showed why he is also well known as a music educator— he is a tenured professor of Jazz studies at Roosevelt University in Chicago and an in-demand clinician; this at the same time as he produces, writes, heads up his own trio, and does session work in the Chicago area.

Through the music we heard that night, Paul articulated his philosophy of drumming, and left us wanting more. He is back tonight with several more tracks, as well as some recordings of his own work, where we will have a chance to hear his drumming philosophy in action.

Considering how well-rounded that philosophy is, I can’t wait to hear his selections for us.
